Xenophobic Terrorism: MTN Has Nigeria By The Balls

MTN Nigeria released a statement warning Nigerians that should there be attacks on its facilities, it might be forced to close shop and 99 per cent of its over 6,000 workforce in the country, who are Nigerians will lose their means of livelihood.

The statement read that calls to boycott its services will affect too many Nigerians because if a boycott happens it will also affect its support chain capacity which would result in economic effect on some 500,000 (5 hundred K?!) Nigerians.

MTN Nigeria’s Corporate Service Executive, Wale Goodluck said there are only 12 South African expatriates involved in its Nigeria operation, a miserly number compared to 6,000 thousand Nigerians directly and indirectly dependent on the company for employment.

His statement reads and I quote

“Then, when you look at our support chain, we have about 500,000 Nigerians gainfully employed. So, boycotting our services simply means destroying so many other Nigerian businesses and making over 500,000 other Nigerians to lose their jobs. This business supports a lot of businesses across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Many of the businesses that are affiliated to South Africa are in the retail space, supporting the growth of Nigeria and employing so many Nigerians.”

Wale Goodluck lamented that MTN has invested over $15 billion expanding its business in Nigeria and sees no reason for a call for revenge as no Nigeria life has been lost in the recent spate of xenophobic terror attacks.

So, Nigerians almost entirely run MTN, this means it can be nationalised and still continue operating (yimu). This people should stop trying us o, see threat.
